A FriedReads Rant About the Theater of Resistance, the Illusion of Progress, and the People Who Profit From Both

October 2026

I used to be a fan of h3h3.

Back in 2016. 2017. The Vape Nation era. The reaction videos. The sketches. That was peak. That was when Ethan and Hila were just a couple making content in their apartment, and it felt real, and it was fun.

Then the podcast started. And I lost interest.

I never understood podcasts. Listening to people talk for hours. Listening to them argue. Listening to them interview guests. Listening to them fill time. You gain nothing from it. You learn nothing from it. It's just noise. It's just background chatter. It's just people talking to fill the silence.

And then the news broke.

Ethan Klein cheated on Hila. Six months. Three children. The whole thing is everywhere. Every feed. Every headline. Every conversation. The man who built his brand on being a devoted husband, a loving father, a family man, was caught in an affair.

I was shocked. Not because I care about Ethan. Not because I'm invested in his marriage. Not because I know these people personally. But because of what it revealed about everyone else.

Because when the news broke, the "opposition" didn't see a family being destroyed. They saw a win. They saw an opportunity. They saw a chance to celebrate.

And that's when I realized something.

This isn't about Palestine. This isn't about justice. This isn't about stopping the genocide.

This is theater.

And Hasan Piker is the lead actor.

The Reaction: "Judge Me By My Enemies"

Let me tell you what Hasan Piker did when the news broke.

He posted "JUDGE ME BY MY ENEMIES."

He mocked Ethan. He shared old clips of Ethan criticizing cheating men. He called him a "high caliber man" sarcastically. He laughed. He gloated. He celebrated.

He was happy.

Not because a family was destroyed. Not because three children will grow up with a father who betrayed their mother. Not because a woman who trusted her husband was betrayed in the most public way possible.

He was happy because his enemy was humiliated.

And I thought: How is this a win?

How does a man cheating on his wife threaten Israel? How does a family being destroyed stop the genocide? How does a YouTuber's affair change a single policy, a single dollar of military aid, a single weapon shipment?

It doesn't.

But Hasan acted like it did. Because for him, it's not about Palestine. It's about the theater. It's about the performance. It's about feeling righteous. It's about being part of the in-group. It's about the dopamine hit of watching your enemy fall.

And that's the problem.

Because if the "opposition" is celebrating a family's destruction, they're not fighting the system. They're part of it. They're the release valve. They're the pressure release that lets people feel like they're resisting while nothing actually changes.

Queers for Palestine Is Theater

Let me talk about "Queers for Palestine."

This movement. This performance. This theater.

It's not a threat to Israel. It's not a threat to Zionism. It's not a threat to the American empire.

It's a distraction.

Because what does Queers for Palestine actually do? They march. They hold signs. They chant. They post on social media. They make themselves visible. They make themselves loud.

And then what?

Nothing.

They don't cut a single dollar of military aid. They don't stop a single weapon shipment. They don't change a single policy. They don't pressure a single politician to actually do something.

They're a pressure valve. They let people feel like they're doing something. They let people feel like they're resisting. They let people feel like they're part of the solution.

But they're not.

They're part of the problem.

Because they make the movement look like a circus. They make the left look crazy. They make people turn away. They make people say, "This is what we're dealing with? This is the opposition?"

And the Zionists love it.

Because every time Queers for Palestine marches, every time they chant, every time they post, the Zionists can point and say: "Look at these people. Look at this absurdity. This is what we're up against. This is why we need to defend ourselves."

The theater doesn't threaten Israel. The theater helps Israel.

Because it makes the opposition look ridiculous. It makes the resistance look like a joke. It makes the people who are actually suffering, the people in Gaza, the people in the West Bank, the people who are being bombed and displaced and murdered, look like they're being represented by a bunch of performative activists who care more about being seen than actually doing something.

I wouldn't be surprised if Queers for Palestine was funded by Zionists without their knowledge. Because it serves their purpose perfectly. It makes the opposition look weak. It makes the movement look fractured. It makes the world turn away.

That is a genius strategy, I have to admit.

The J Street Problem: Why the Solution Is the Problem

Now let me talk about J Street.

J Street is a liberal pro-Israel group. It positions itself as the "reasonable" alternative to AIPAC. It opposes "extreme" pro-Israel nominees. It pushes for diplomacy. It advocates for peace.

And it co-sponsored the College Democrats convention in July 2026.

Hasan Piker was a featured speaker.

Critics lost their minds. John Fetterman said, "How can you embrace people like that?" People were outraged. People were furious. People said this was beyond the pale.

And J Street defended it.

They said they disagree with Hasan, but they won't abandon the spaces where the next generation is debating. They said it's about dialogue. They said it's about keeping the conversation going.

And Hasan defended J Street.

He said they're "not insane." He said they "can read the room." He said they're not like AIPAC. He said they're the "reasonable" ones.

Think about that.

The anti-Zionist streamer is defending the liberal Zionist group.

Because he's part of the ecosystem. He's not outside it. He's inside it. He's part of the same conversation. He's part of the same machine.

And J Street, at the end of the day, pushes the same solution.

The two-state solution.

That's a problem.

Because the two-state solution is not a solution. It's a fantasy. It's a fantasy that pretends the colonizer and the colonized are equals. It's a fantasy that pretends the oppressor and the oppressed are both responsible for the conflict. It's a fantasy that pretends that if we just draw a line on a map, everything will be okay.

Let me explain this in a way that makes sense, as I did in a previous entry.

Imagine China colonizes Canada.

I'm from Canada. So let's use that.

China decides to colonize Canada. They move people in. They set up a military presence. They create a proxy state. Let's call it Xelvaris. They take over the political system. They build institutions for Chinese settlers. Canadians start to lose their identity. Their land. Their country.

Now imagine "liberals" in China say:

"Canada and Xelvaris are both evil. Both sides need to work toward a two-state solution."

That's what the two-state solution sounds like.

It's the normalization of colonialism. But it's done with a "kind" lens. It's done with a "reasonable" tone. It's done with a "both sides are bad" framework.

Both sides are not bad.

One side is the oppressor. One side is the oppressed. One side is colonizing. One side is being colonized. One side has power. One side has nothing.

J Street is the "reasonable" version of AIPAC. It's the "nice" version of Zionism. It's the "kind" version of colonialism.

And Hasan Piker is defending it. He's defending the "reasonable" solution. He's defending the two-state solution. He's defending the fantasy that lets Zionism continue while looking like it's doing something.

He's part of the system which he claims to hate so much. He mentioned in one of his streams that liberal Zionists need to wake up. HE'S A LIBERAL ZIONIST HIMSELF!

The Real Threat: What Would Actually Stop This

So what would actually stop this?

What would actually threaten Zionism? What would actually threaten the American empire? What would actually change anything?

The answer is simple.

America cutting ties with Israel.

Completely. Totally. Irrevocably.

Stopping the $3.8 billion in annual military aid. Stopping the diplomatic cover. Stopping the weapons sales. Stopping the UN vetoes. Stopping the support.

That's the threat. That's the real danger. That's what Zionism fears.

Not Hasan Piker. Not Queers for Palestine. Not streamers on Twitch. Not podcasts on YouTube. Not performative activism. Not the theater of resistance.

Because none of that threatens the system. None of that threatens the money. None of that threatens the power.

The system doesn't fear its critics. It fears its defectors.

And no one is defecting.

Hasan Piker isn't defecting. He's operating within the system. He's part of the ecosystem. He's part of the conversation. He's part of the machine.

He calls for an end to military aid, but he doesn't have the power to make it happen. He campaigns for candidates, but those candidates don't cut the money. He speaks at conventions, but those conventions are co-sponsored by J Street. He attacks the system, but he doesn't actually threaten it.

He's a critic, not a defector.

And critics don't change anything.

Because the system can absorb critics. The system can tolerate critics. The system can even celebrate critics, because they make it look like there's a debate, like there's a conversation, like there's a possibility of change.

But there's no change.

There's only theater.

The Ethan Klein Scandal as a Microcosm

Let me bring it back to where I started.

The Ethan Klein scandal is a perfect example of how the system works.

A man cheated on his wife. A family is being destroyed. Three children will grow up with a father who betrayed their mother.

And the "opposition" saw it as a win. They celebrated. They gloated. They made memes. They shared clips. They laughed.

They didn't care about the children. They didn't care about the family. They didn't care about anything except the fact that their enemy was humiliated.

And that's the problem.

Because if they actually cared about Palestine, they would be focused on the money. The weapons. The policy. They would be focused on the $3.8 billion in military aid. They would be focused on the diplomatic cover. They would be focused on the actual threat to Zionism, which is America cutting ties.

But they're not.

They're focused on Ethan Klein. A YouTuber. A podcast host. A loser who cheated on a Zionist.

They're focused on the theater.

Because it's easier. It's easier to celebrate your enemy's downfall than to actually do the work. It's easier to post memes than to organize. It's easier to be part of the in-group than to actually challenge the system.

The real work is boring. It's policy. It's money. It's pressure. It's organizing. It's not fun. It's not viral. It's not a stream.

And Hasan Piker isn't doing the real work.

He's doing the theater.

And the theater is working. The theater is distracting. The theater is keeping people occupied. The theater is keeping people comfortable. The theater is keeping people from asking the questions that actually matter.

Like why are we funding Israel? Like why are we supporting a genocide? Like why are we backing an apartheid state? Like why are we maintaining an empire that is collapsing?

The theater doesn't ask those questions. The theater doesn't answer those questions. The theater just distracts. It distracts from the real issues. It distracts from the real fight. It distracts from the real enemy.

The real enemy isn't Hasan Piker. The real enemy isn't Ethan Klein. The real enemy is the system that keeps them both in business. The system that profits from the theater. The system that profits from the distraction. The system that profits from the illusion of progress.

The Final Line

Hasan Piker is paid opposition.

He's not a threat to Zionism. He's not a threat to the American empire. He's not a threat to the system.

He's a pressure valve. He's a distraction. He's a way for people to feel like they're resisting while nothing actually changes.

And the Ethan Klein scandal proves it.

Because when the news broke, he didn't see a family being destroyed. He saw a win. He saw an opportunity. He saw a chance to celebrate.

He wasn't thinking about Palestine. He wasn't thinking about Gaza. He wasn't thinking about the people who are dying. He wasn't thinking about the people who are starving. He wasn't thinking about the people who are being bombed and displaced and murdered.

He was thinking about himself. He was thinking about the theater. He was thinking about the performance.

The theater has to end. The performance has to stop. It won't, but who knows.

And until someone actually defects, nothing is going to change.
