I was watching one of those Jubilee videos.

I know. I know. I've criticized them before. I'm not a fan. They platform grifters. They turn debate into entertainment. They make money off division. But sometimes, I can't help myself. It's like watching a car crash. You want to look away. But you can't.

So there I was. Watching Tim Pool. The man, the myth, the grifter.

He was doing the "Surrounded" thing. One guy. Twenty people who disagree with him. The format is designed for chaos. And chaos is exactly what we got.

The topic came up. Civil war. The possibility. The fear. The grift.

A debater named Mason called Tim out. He said Tim has 42 video titles that mention "civil war." He said Tim is profiting from the fear. He said: "You say bullshit in order to get money."

Tim got defensive. He said he doesn't have a "strong prediction." He said he's just asking questions. Then he walked off the set.

He walked off. Then he came back. Then he said "subscribe to Timcast" on his way out.

I stared at the screen. I blinked. I laughed.

This guy is making money off the idea that America is going to fall apart. And his response to being called out is to walk off the set and then tell people to subscribe.

My Personal Experience

Here's the thing. I'm Canadian. I live in a peaceful country. I've never experienced political violence. Not even close.

I've been to college. I've had discussions. Good ones. We disagreed. We debated. We moved on. No one got angry. No one tried to start a civil war over lunch.

I've worked jobs. In-person jobs. Remote jobs. I've talked politics with coworkers. We disagreed. We laughed. We went back to work.

In my personal life, I've never met a crazy nut job. I've never seen a political fight. I've never felt like I was in danger because of my political beliefs. The worst I've experienced is someone disappointed.

The internet is a warzone. My living room is a peaceful sanctuary.

Which one is real?

The Internet vs. Reality

X is a bloodbath. Everyone is at each other's throats. People celebrating political events. People being furious about the same events. Fighting like crazy. Screaming into the void.

YouTube is full of rage-bait. Tim Pool. Ben Shapiro. The whole grift machine. They make money off your anger. They profit from your fear. They sell you the idea that everything is falling apart so you'll click, watch, and subscribe.

Reddit is an echo chamber. Everyone agrees with everyone else. No one disagrees. No one debates. Everyone just nods along and upvotes.

And then there's real life. Where people go to work. Where people buy groceries. Where people live their lives. The internet says we're on the brink of civil war. Real life says we're just trying to get through the day.

I don't know which one is accurate. I don't know if the internet is just a distorted version of reality, or if reality is just a distorted version of the internet. What I do know is that something doesn't add up.

The "Soft Split"

The thing is, America isn't in a civil war. It's not even close to a civil war. But it's not really united either. It's more like a bad roommate situation where no one wants to move out.

Blue states are doing their own thing. Red states are doing their own thing. The federal government is there, but no one really listens to it anymore. It's like a divorced couple who still lives in the same house. They avoid each other. They pretend to get along. But everyone knows the marriage is over.

They call it "uncooperative federalism." A fancy term for "everyone does what they want." Red states ignore federal laws they don't like. Blue states ignore federal policies they don't like. No one enforces anything. No one follows anything.

It's not war. It's not peace. It's something in between. A holding pattern. A wait and see. A slow, gradual drift apart.

Will It Actually Happen?

Here's my honest thought.

I think something will happen.

I don't know when. I don't know how. I don't know what it will look like. But I think something major will happen. Something that reshapes the political landscape of America. Something that changes everything.

Maybe it's a civil war. Maybe it's a constitutional crisis. Maybe it's just a really, really bad election. But I don't think things can keep going the way they are. Something has to give.

The divide is too wide. The bubble is too big. People are too angry. The internet makes everything worse. The grifters profit from the chaos. The algorithms promote the outrage.

At some point, the bubble has to pop. At some point, something has to give. I don't know what that something is. But I think it's coming.

I could be wrong. I swear I'm not grifter! 👀

I'm not going to walk off the set. I'm going to stay here. I'm going to keep writing. I'm going to keep observing. I'm going to keep laughing at the absurdity of it all.

But the thing is, Tim Pool walked off the set, came back, and said "subscribe." That's a grift. I'm making fun of the grift. But I'm also pointing out that the grift works. People are scared. People are angry. People want someone to tell them what's going to happen next.

I'm not that person. I don't know what's going to happen next. I'm just a guy on a couch, eating chips, watching the world burn. And writing about it. And laughing about it. Kind of entertaining actually.

Tim Pool sells certainty. I sell confusion. I think confusion could sell for more.

The Final Line

Tim Pool walked off the set because someone called him a grifter. He came back. He said "subscribe." That's the whole thing. That's the whole grift.

I don't know if there's going to be a civil war. I don't know if America is going to fall apart. I don't know anything.

But I know one thing.

If there is a civil war, I'll be watching from my couch. Eating chips. Laughing. And writing about it.
