My Love Letter to the Season of Peace, Crisp Air, and Dying Bugs

October 2026

I wrote about hating summer.

I wrote about the heat. The sweat. The mosquitoes. The social pressure to pretend you're having fun while you're actually miserable.

Now I'm writing about loving fall.

I'm not a balanced person. I don't do "both sides." I don't do "well, I guess every season has its good points."

I've always loved fall. Ever since I was a kid. Ever since the first time I felt that crisp air on my face and saw those leaves turn yellow and orange and red. Ever since the first time I wore a sweater and felt comfortable in my own skin.

Fall is the best season. It's always been the best season. It will always be the best season.

And I'm going to tell you why.

The Bugs Are Dying

Let me start with the most practical reason.

The bugs are dying.

Summer was a war. A war against mosquitoes. A war against ants. A war against wasps. A war against flies. A war against every tiny creature that decided my existence was an invitation to feast.

I couldn't open a window without inviting a swarm. I couldn't sit outside without being eaten alive. I couldn't exist without swatting. Without scratching. Without suffering.

But fall?

Fall is the peace treaty.

The mosquitoes are dying. The ants are retreating. The wasps are slowing down. The flies are disappearing.

You can open a window in fall. You can sit outside. You can exist. The air is clear. The bugs are gone. The world is livable again.

The Weather Is Perfect

Let me talk about the weather.

Summer was oppressive. The heat was relentless. You couldn't escape it. You couldn't ignore it. You couldn't pretend it was fine. It wasn't fine. It was hell.

You stepped outside and immediately started sweating. Your body produced fluids like it was running a marathon.

Fall on the other hand,is perfect.

Not too hot. Not too cold. Just right. The kind of weather that makes you want to go outside. The kind of weather that makes you want to take a walk. The kind of weather that makes you feel like a human being instead of a melting puddle of misery.

You can wear a sweater in fall. You can wear a jacket. You can wear layers.

The air is crisp. The breeze is cool. The sun is warm.

It's like the universe finally decided to give us a break. Like it looked at the misery of summer and said, "Okay. You've suffered enough. Here's something nice."

Like a hug.

The Leaves

Now let me talk about the leaves.

The leaves change.

Yellow. Orange. Red. The trees become works of art. The world becomes a painting. The streets become a gallery. Everywhere you look, there's color. Everywhere you look, there's beauty.

This feeling. This somber feeling. The melancholy. The beauty that comes from it.

The leaves are falling. They're dying. They're letting go. And there's something beautiful about that.

I don't know why. I don't know why it feels that way.

Because it means we don't have to hold on so tight. It means we don't have to be afraid of change. It means we can let things go, and it'll be okay.

The leaves let go. And the world becomes more beautiful. Maybe we can do the same.

The Halloween Feel

October 31st. Halloween. The peak of fall.

This is the one time of year when the weird and the creepy are celebrated. When you can be a monster and no one judges you. When you can decorate your house with skeletons and ghosts and pumpkins. When you can watch horror movies and eat candy.

The decorations. The costumes. The candy. The horror movies. The whole thing. It's fun. It's a break from the seriousness of the rest of the year.

And it's not just Halloween. It's the whole season. The pumpkins. The apple cider. The cozy sweaters. The warm blankets. The hot drinks. The feeling that the world is slowing down.

Fall is the season of comfort. The season of cozy. The season of taking a breath and enjoying the moment.

And I love it.

The Contrast

Let me compare fall to summer. Directly.

Summer was heat. Fall is cool. Summer was bugs. Fall is bug-free. Summer was oppressive. Fall is liberating.

Summer was social pressure to enjoy things you hated. Fall is no pressure. You can enjoy it in your own way. You can stay inside. You can go outside. You can do whatever you want.

Summer was a punishment. Fall is a reward.

Summer was the season of suffering. Fall is the season of peace.

It's that simple.

I don't know why anyone would prefer summer. I don't know why anyone would choose the season of heat and bugs and misery over the season of crisp air and dying bugs and beautiful colors.

But I don't judge them. Okay. I judge them a little bit. But I don't say it out loud. Usually.

The Conclusion: Fall Is the Best Season

Fall is the best season.

It's the only season that feels like it was designed for human beings.

The bugs are dying. The heat is gone. The colors are beautiful. The air is crisp. The vibe is spooky. The melancholy is beautiful. It's the season of transition. The season of letting go. The season of peace.

Fall is the best season. And I'm not sorry for saying it.

If you love summer, good for you. I hope you enjoy the heat. I hope you enjoy the bugs. I hope you enjoy the suffering.

But I'll be here. In the crisp air. In the falling leaves. In the spooky vibes. In the peace.

And I'll be happy.

Because fall is the best season. And I'm not sorry for saying it.

The Final Line

Fall brings peace!
